Have you been slacking recently? Here are 10 ways you know if you need to work out.
Becoming fit has been on your bucket list for as long as you remember. Your New Year’s resolution every year is to join a gym and yet somehow you never do! Something’s holding you back and we’re going to help you figure out what it is. On the other hand, you may be in denial, totally believing that working out is no biggie and that you’ve got better ways to spend your time. Let’s suss out whether you’re in need of exercise, shall we…?
1) You’re always tired
You wake up: you’re tired. You go about your day: you’re tired. You go to bed: you’re tired. It seems that no matter how much sleep you have, you can’t get rid of that constant feeling of fatigue. Exercise is a great way to seriously boost your energy levels!
2) Walking up the stairs is such effort
Every time you walk up the stairs you feel as if you’ve just climbed Mount Everest. You’re panting, flushed, sweaty… let’s face it – it’s not a pretty sight. Flights of stairs may seem like your enemy, but they’re actually secretly your best friend. Hit the stairmaster and watch your bum transform!
3) You have loads of gym clothes that you never wear
Let’s take a moment to think about the array of leggings, sports bras and racerback tops gathering dust at the back of people’s wardrobes – it’s a disgrace! If you treat yourself to some new kit, then throw it on and notice how great you feel. Looking the part will definitely motivate you to work out more.
4) Your gym playlist is at least 5 years old
The last time you went to the gym, it was a different time altogether. You were rocking out to classics such as Hollaback Girl, Stronger and Pump It. Now, these are fine tunes, don’t get us wrong, but your music may need a bit of a shake up to get you in the mood for fitness.
5) The idea of going on a run fills you with dread
Everything about running outdoors freaks you out. The weather is unpredictable, your hair is probably going to fly all over your face and tripping over the pavement is an occupational hazard. However, your worries are just holding you back. Get ready and go before you have a chance to think about it – it’s not that bad, we promise!
6) You’re worried that people will stare at you in the gym
Regular gym-goers intimidate you like crazy. They’re just so perfect and you’re sure that they’re going to be judging you the minute you walk through the door. Newsflash: this is complete rubbish. Go to the gym and focus on yourself, as everyone else will be doing exactly the same!
7) Your idea of exercise is walking to Costa for your morning coffee
Just because you walked round the corner to fetch your morning coffee doesn’t mean that your exercise is done for the day. Not in the slightest! Everyone has 24 hours in a day to fit in a workout, so you really have no excuse. You could even squeeze in some squats while you’re watching Friends! Sorted.
8) You actively avoid fitness Insta accounts
You’ll never be as fit as the fitspos on Instagram, so what’s the point in following them… right? Wrong! First of all, you can achieve anything as long as you have the determination, the drive and the dedication. Secondly, finding fitspiration on social media will push you to achieve your goals!
9) You try to make up for your lack of exercise in other ways
You don’t exercise, so instead you drink lots of water, eat healthy food and aim for eight hours sleep a night. But when you want abs of steel, eating lettuce alone just doesn’t cut it. Fitness is your friend! Add a workout to the mix and see the huge difference it makes.
10) Every day you say you’ll start tomorrow
Yesterday you said today. Today you said tomorrow. Enough is enough! If you really want to become fighting fit, today is the day to make it happen. Jump into action and start working out! You’ve got this.
