This year’s must-go festival

If you are after a festival with more bang for your buck, then Boardmasters is just the ticket for you. Combining surfing, skating, BMX-ing, shopping, camping and music, this festival is taking place at Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach, Cornwall from Wednesday 10^th August to Sunday 14^th August has got it all to keep you entertained.

There are so many things to look forward to at this year’s must-go festival, and here’s what we are most looking forward to…

Music

Last year saw more than 150,000 people attended Boardmasters across the five days.  And this year the festival welcomes Chase & Status, Deadmau5, James Bay, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Kaiser Chiefs and Primal Scream as headliners, which is an epic festival in itself. With more than five music stages, you will always find something to suit your taste.

Surfing

Originally Boardmasters was a small surfing competition, now it has become one of the biggest events in the British surfing calendar. Pro-surfers and locals ride the waves to grab the Boardmasters crown. There are even opportunities to give surfing a go while you are there too, you never know, one day you could be competing for that crown!

Skate & BMX

The Fistral Beach skate competition is always a crowd pleaser, with competitors pushing the boundaries every year.

Always a popular event, the skateboarders rip apart ramps, fly high and show off their skills to an always eager crowd. Again, if you are a skateboarder, you’re encouraged to show what you can do too – from newbies to skate-park pros, everyone is encouraged to give it a go.

There’s also a purpose-built BMX park where you can watch the athletes compete. There is no need to buy tickets to watch the BMX or skate events, but it does get packed out when the finals are on, so get there early to make sure you get a good view!

Beach bar

Beach beach bar at Fistral Beach is the perfect place to chill and have a drink in-between cheering the competitors. With a BBQ terrace, resident DJs and live bands throughout the day, you can totally relax and top up your tan.

Sunshine

Taking place at the height of summer, it’s the perfect opportunity to catch some rays (fingers crossed!) and you don’t even have to get on a plane.

Shopping

Along the Fistral coastline the surf village will be open so you can shop until you drop. From beautiful delicate handmade trinkets, to pasties and all of your favourite brands, no time at Boardmasters is complete without a little retail therapy.
