Move over August! September is fast approaching and we couldn’t be happier – here’s 5 reasons to love September!

While it’s sad to say goodbye to those glorious summer evenings, we know that there are plenty of reasons why we should all be excited for the start of autumn. September sees the start of the build up to all the exciting events that the autumn and winter months have to offer, including New Year’s Eve. Why not hit the ground running this year and give some thought to what your resolution/s are going to be?

By coming up with some early ideas of what it is you want to improve or change about your lifestyle, it’ll be much easier to gradually ease your way into these habits, rather than diving straight in on the 1st January! With so much to look forward to in the coming months, you’ll forget about all about those beach trips and BBQs in no time. Click through to see how we’ll be rolling into Autumn!

Challenge yourself

If you’re looking to make a change this September, why not give your willpower a real challenge and take part in the Dryathlon? For the first time ever the Dryathlon will take place in September as well as January to give people a ‘second chance September’. ‘A summer of holidays, festivals and weddings can mean that we all feel we have overindulged a little with the drinking, so September is the perfect time to bin the booze’ says Anthony Newman, chief Dryathlete™-in-training at Cancer Research UK. From the 1st to the 30th of September, you have the chance to axe the alcohol and raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Since 2013, 140,000 Dryathletes have raised a staggering £15 million through fundraising and binning the booze. As well as doing your bit for charity, cutting out alcohol is a great way of detoxing and giving your body a break. Not only will you lower the risk of developing cancer, but you could save lots of money and cut out empty calories too! If you need that extra little motivational push, there’s an alcohol calculator on the Dryathlon website that tells you how much money you’d save and how many calories you’d eliminate by going teetotal for September!
