We all know we should, but why buy organic? And what exactly defines an organic beauty product? Being healthy doesn’t stop at food and drink – in other words, what we put into our bodies; we need to consider what we put on to them too. A certified organic beauty product means it is based on or contains plant-derived components that contain no harsh chemicals that could be absorbed into the bloodstream and have a negative effect on our health.

Given the right environment, our skin has the ability to keep itself healthy, and by choosing natural and organic you provide the desired environment for it to flourish. Organics are much gentler on the skin, particularly if you have sensitivities.

Firstly, before purchasing any organic product, it is essential to check whether it is certified. This will confirm it adheres to strict rules and regulations. It ensures quality of the ingredients and that all statements being made are truthful, as some labels in beauty can be misleading and are generally not regulated. Certification however means they’ve been externally tested and are monitored, which brings you peace of mind. Most importantly, certification ensures the ingredients have not been exposed to any pesticides, synthetic ingredients or GMOs. So when you choose organic beauty, you are choosing to support both the environment and the natural systems of your skin.

Here are our fave organic beauty products.
