2. Set goals

Setting short, medium and long-term goals is a must if you want to stay on track. ‘Whether that is to cycle a certain distance or complete a certain number of hours of training in a week, goals will help keep you focused and motivated day-to-day,’ Joanna says. Sapan shares his advice on setting goals, too: ‘Goals generally are important as they help us to achieve things, and exercise is no different. Be realistic with your goals but make them hard enough to challenge you. Strike the balance – an unrealistic goal will kill motivation but a goal that is too easily achieved will lead to boredom.’
