Spring candles – sniffed by us

Beast from the East be gone, we’re welcoming spring – and spring candles! – with open arms here at WHL HQ.

And what better way to inject a fresh springtime feel into our lives than with some sumptuously fruity and floral scents?

There are always candles burning in my house – in part to drown out the scent of wet dog (thanks, Teddy), but mostly because I love to walk into a house that smells like my signature scent, like home.

Last year I was hooked on The White Company’s Spring Signature Candle – honeysuckle, rose, jasmine and lilac combine with the earthy aroma of freshly mown grass.

Once I find a scent I like, I spray it, burn it and spritz it wherever I go. But it’s time for a change!

This year I’m in the market for a new aroma. So here’s my pick of some of the best spring candles around this spring.

Spring candles we love (clockwise from top left)

Heyland and Whittle Earl Grey Candle

I’ve been burning this candle in my dining room every evening and it’s given the house a gorgeously light scent. The casing is chic enough to match any room in the house and guests always comment on the scent! I’ll be stocking up.

Ted Baker Bergamot & Cassis Candle

This fruity Bergamot and Cassis candle smells sweet, but sophisticated and brings any room to life. I loved the pink packaging and the pretty box also makes it a great candle to gift.

The Chapel Mellifera Candle

The quirky artwork on the front won me over before I’d even smelt this unusual candle. But the scent lives up to high expectations, too – it’s vanilla based with a touch of fruit and rose and hits the perfect spot between fruity and floral. Taking pride of place in my bedroom, this candle is the ideal way to top off a spring clean and leave your house smelling amazing.

Jo Malone Lavender and Lovage Candle

Lavender isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it is mine. It reminds me of lavender picking in France, old fashioned draw liners and potpurri. Beautifully subtle, but pleasingly floral, it’s a sophisticated scent for any time of year.

Isla Apothecary Wanderwood Candle

The gorgeous copper tin won me over from the off. It sits perfectly on my bedroom windowsill, reflecting the lighting and adding a little shine to the room. The high-quality essential oils and natural soy wax give off a gorgeous woodland scent thanks to lashing of vetiver, cedarwood atlas, black pepper and lavender. Like. Walk in the woods from the comfort of your sofa – ideal for a drizzly spring day!

Neom Happiness Scented Candle

You can’t beat a gigantic 3-wick Nom candle for scented luxury. Featuring neroli, mimosa & lemon, this candles boasts a warm and inviting scent, specifically designed to lift your mood – apparently 92% of people felt uplifted and in a better mood after get a whiff of this scent. Plus, it looks beautiful flickering in a dimly lit room when all three wicks are alight.

Mini Moderns Gin Fizz Candle

Spring means little lambs, daffodils and blue skies (hopefully), but the lighter nights also means evening drinks in the sun, trips to the local pub garden and BBQs al fresco, so what better way to celebrate than with a booze-themed scent! Lemon and juniper berry with notes of fresh geranium give this candle a fresh and exciting scent, perfect for lighter spring nights. Gin Fizz might not be everyones go-to spring scent but for me it gets me excited for the season ahead, with outdoor fun top of the agenda!
