Complaining about the cold and woeful over the weather? Why not warm up with a workout?

Layering up, cranking the heating up and hiding under the covers are all effective ways to get warm – but they’re no fun. In our endless bids to warm up our bodies, we tend to forget the one thing that’s guaranteed to make us feel hot in a flash: exercise.

Try this workout that’s sure to help you warm up – but we can’t promise it’ll stop you whingeing about the weather!

Perform 10-15 reps of each exercise back to back, then take a 30-45 second rest before going back to the start. Repeat 3-5 times.

Jumping lunge

Instructions:

Start with one foot a large step in front of the other.

Bend both knees until the back knee is almost on the ground and both knees are at around 90 degrees (you may need to adjust how far apart your feet are to adopt this position comfortably).

Jump up as high as you can, extending both legs, and switching them mid-air so that you land with the opposite leg in front.

Land softly straight into the next rep.

Top tip:
Hold a dumbbell in each hand by your sides to add more resistance
