Team WHL was lucky enough to be invited to try out a session with Louisa Drake, creator of The Louisa Drake Method. Here’s what we thought…

If you haven’t heard of the Louisa Drake Method, or LDM for short, then prepare to fall in love! Promising to rework your workout, the method fuses together resistance training, conditioning, cardio and stretch. Having extensive knowledge through years of training and experience, Louisa created the method with women’s bodies in mind. She is passionate about transforming bodies through correct exercise, nutrition and lifestyle. Prepare to feel the burn while getting that glow.

Louisa describes The Method as: ‘a unique fitness-fusion approach to working out that specialises in creating a longer, leaner and strengthened physique.’ This is achieved through the use of mat work, resistance band training and ball balancing while incorporating elements of yoga, Pilates and ballet on the barre. Don’t expect all classes to be the same though, as Louisa likes to keep the body guessing for ultimate results. She explains: ‘the Method is a shape-changer – it boosts metabolism, burns fat and leans out muscles for increased flexibility that creates a coveted sculpted body.’

The Method is addictive, not only for its transformative abilities and variation, but also because of Louisa’s personality, which instantly puts you at ease. Talk to her for just a couple of minutes and it’s clear to see how much she cares about women’s health and wellbeing through transforming their bodies and encouraging them to take a holistic approach towards fitness.

There’s an option to have a consultation with Louisa where nutritional and lifestyle guidance is offered to complement the training side to LDM. This helps members to create balance in other areas of their life such as wellbeing, at the same time as achieving their weight and body goals.

Louisa is keen to advise clients on ways to live a healthier life, such as encouraging them to walk at least 4,000 steps a day and build up to 10,000. If you’re stuck for time and can’t head down to a studio then you can access The Method online via louisadrake.com, which allows you to do short and effective total body workouts from the comfort of your own home.

The ethos also encourages regular stretching to complement the training, help muscle repair and relax the mind and body. Louisa believes that: ‘a simple stretch session offers important benefits for both the body and mind, acting as a mental break that helps you to refocus and bring your body back into balance.’

Recognising the importance of listening to your body, Louisa encourages clients to tune into how they’re feeling that day. Listening to the body’s natural rhythm and respecting this is the best way to connect body and mind.

Louisa promises that if you: ‘train regularly with LDM, you will notice a transformation – with glowing skin, a feeling of energy and a healthier, stronger body.’ At some points you will feel the burn, but through Louisa’s unique and personal coaching you’ll release an inner strength you didn’t know you had. And once you start seeing and feeling the glow, you’ll soon realise there’s method in her madness.

There are multiple ways to access the method, from pop-ups in London (such as the one at The Detox Kitchen), in your own home through a private session, or online. You can also sign up to a six-week bespoke and nutritional package called The Shape Changer for fast and effective results. No matter how you choose to access The Method you’re bound to get hooked, just like we did!
