If you’re looking for a way to burn calories fast then this skipping workout is for you. Not only is it fast-track calorie torcher, there is no need to splash your cash on a gym membership or pricey equipment. You can do it at any time, anywhere.

There is a common misconception that the skipping rope should be left with the kids in the playground. However this form of exercise deserves to be taken more seriously. Firstly, jumping rope raises the heart rate therefore improving cardiovascular fitness and endurance, significantly burning calories and contributing to weight loss. The action of skipping also strengthens and tones both the upper and lower muscles of the body, providing the ultimate workout.

The skipping rope is easily transportable and light, therefore can be taken with you on your travels allowing you to exercise on the move. Furthermore you don’t need to break the bank to get one and ultimately it can provide lots of fun!

I love York Fitness’ Leather Skipping Rope, with extra comfy handles!

Your skipping workout:
1 minute: Basic jump, passing the rope over your head and jumping off the ground as the rope swings under your feet. Followed by 1 minute’s rest.

1 minute: Alternating foot jump, switching your landing foot on each rotation of the rope. Followed by 1 minute’s rest.

1 minute: High jump: same as the basic but jump the knees as high as you can off the group with each rotation of the rope. Followed by 1 minute’s rest.

Finish off with continuously skipping for three minutes, either the basic jump or alternating foot jump.
