Want to take on a kettlebell workout but don’t know where to start? Thankfully, there’s no need to get fancy when it comes to this super-effective piece of kit. They can be found in most good gyms these days, but are also a really handy piece of kit to have for home workouts, thanks to their versatility.

With their ability to challenge the core whatever the move, kettlebells are great tools for functional training, too. You can easily use them for your usual moves like Russian twists, shoulder presses and deadlifts, but there are some moves for which the kettlebells are particularly useful. These are our faves.

Try 3 sets of 10 reps, taking a 30 second rest between each set. Start with a weight you’re comfortable with at first in order to perfect the technique. Gradually add weight as you become more confident, until you can use the heaviest weight that challenges you throughout the whole workout.
