12 ways you know you’re a gym freak

For many people, going to the gym is a chore. For others, it’s a way of life. Do you consider yourself part of the latter?  Read on to discover the 12 ways you know you’re a gym freak!

1) You’re always in workout gear, whether you’re at the gym or not.

Your wardrobe consists of oodles of Sweaty Betty, lots of Lululemon, a fair amount of Nike and more sports bras than you can count. You have so much workout gear, it makes sense to wear it all the time!

2) Your social media feed is filled with fitspo and healthy eating accounts.

When you’re not at the gym, you’re usually on Twitter or Instagram checking out the hottest new fitspo or healthy eating accounts. If anyone needs a new squatting technique, you’re the person they ask for tips.

3) You wake up absurdly early so you can hit the gym before work.

You know what they say: the early bird catches the worm! Or in your case, the early person gets dibs on all the best gym equipment. You honestly don’t remember what it feels like to have a lie in, and that’s the way you like it!

4) You’ve been known to take the odd gym selfie… or 20.

You make fun of people who takes photos of themselves at the gym and then proceed to sneakily take loads yourself. You can’t help it – when you train this hard, you deserve for people to know about it… right?

5) You’re obsessed with monitoring your heart rate and daily fitness levels on a watch or app.

The moment you received your Fitbit for Christmas, the priorities in your life changed forever. Every day you constantly monitor your heart rate, the number of steps you’ve taken and distance travelled so far.

6) Forget crazy diets. You eat about six meals a day.

When you exercise as much as you do, you definitely build up a huge appetite. People who train loads and then eat rabbit food are definitely not doing it right in your eyes. If you’re exercising, you’re eating – simple as that!

7) You save up so you keep buying essential pre and post workout supplements.

Being a gym fanatic isn’t just about working out. You’ve learnt a lot about the benefits of protein, pre and post workout supplements, running gels – the works. The fact is, now you can’t imagine your life without them!

8) For you, a treat is a deliciously healthy fruit or veg smoothie.

Back in the old days, a treat may have been a chocolate bar or a slice of cake. Not anymore! When you decide you deserve a treat for all your hard work, your first stop is the blender for a tasty smoothie. Doesn’t get better than that!

9) A motivational gym meme can always brighten your day.

If you’re having one of those days when you’re feeling quite disheartened, you know exactly how to cheer yourself up – by finding a motivational gym meme to get you back on your feet. A few words can make all the difference!

10) You’ve spent hours collating the perfect gym playlist.

The perfect playlist can completely transform your workout, something that you know all too well. Accidentally leaving your headphones at home when you go the gym is your idea of a nightmare.

11) Your social life is determined by your workout schedule.

Anyone who’s friends with you knows that going to the gym is a big part of your life. You don’t plan your workout schedule around your social life – it’s the other way around. You treasure your friends so much, but you love the gym too!

You’re a gym freak and you’re damn proud to be one. You’ve put a lot of hours and sweat into achieving your goals and you wouldn’t have it any other way. Your obsession may be a little OTT, but you wouldn’t change for the world!
