Suunto Ambit3Run gps watch, £175, Suunto

Put off by overcomplicated GPS devices? With a smaller face and easy-to-use functionality, the ultra-runner’s favourite Suunto has produced a GPS watch specifically for newcomers to running. The Ambit3 Run allows you to train, relive and share your runs via the Suunto Movescount App, available to download on your phone.

As well as offering all the usual information such as speed, pace, distance and GPS, the Suunto also connects to the app instantly via Bluetooth 4.0 so you can share your experiences with virtual communities such as Strava. You can also use the app to plan your workouts and push yourself harder. Of course, you do need to be connected to a device with Bluetooth 4.0 capability, but that extra push of motivation from your friends could be just what you need.
