We had a Q&A with Roots & Bulbs founder Sarah Cadji, to find out the story behind the brand. An ambassador for Currys PC World, together they have created three bespoke healthy juices using the Nutribullet and are working together to encourage the nation to make more use of their kitchen gadgets and get healthy. In our Q&A we talked inspiration, go-to shakes and kitchen staples…

How and why did you get into the health industry?
I was led to it by my unhealthy lifestyle and inconsistency in what I was feeding my body. It was an answer to a problem I had, that led me to find a whole new way of life and energy.

What inspired you to set up Roots and Bulbs?
There was nowhere to eat a healthy meal on the go – it was so difficult to eat out without having to plan bringing food from home, so we saw a big gap in the market for accessible food with good ingredients.

How does Roots and Bulbs differ from other juice and smoothie bars?
We are not a juice and smoothie bar – we offer an approach to food and what you put into your body that starts from juice and smoothies, and extends all the way to food, deserts, protein powders and snacks.

What has been the most challenging aspect of setting up and running Roots and Bulbs?
The most challenging bit has been running a business while having a baby.

What’s your go-to shake pre/post workout?
Coconut water with protein powder.

Why do you think there’s been such a shift towards prolonged healthy eating rather than short-term fad diets?
People are slowly realising that diets simply don’t work. The key to healthy success is a consistent approach to what we allow to go into our bodies on a daily basis.

What is your one top tip for people trying to get into making juices at home?
My top tip is to not complicate things and to be creative with ingredients.

Why are your three kitchen staples?
My Vitamix, my juicer and my daughters blender!

What are the three items you always have in your fridge and why?
Vegetables – I can quickly make a juice for a snack, when I am on the go.
Eggs – a healthy easy meal that I can make in so many ways.
Dehydrated snacks that I make myself for a meal on the go with my daughter.
