Don’t wilt as the temps soar, with our 5 ways to beat the heat

1. Always carry water!
Always! Whether you’re jumping on a long train journey, hitting the gym or heading out on the town, don’t be more than a metre from your water bottle.

2. Enjoy a spritz
A water spray or spritz on your desk can be a life-saver when the office starts to heat up. We love Aveda’s amazingly refreshing toning mist (£17, aveda.co.uk). Simply spray over your face and body, and relax. A little spray in the right direction is also a great way to keep annoying colleagues in check!

3. Dress down
Now is not the time for itchy scratchy fabrics, long sleeves or clingy dresses. Wherever possible plump for cotton and pick dresses and skirts that will move a bit in the breeze (if there is one!). For workouts it’s time to whip out the shorts! We love Nike’s Tempo Modern Printed Shorts (£25, nike.com). And pick sweat-wicking or antimicrobial fabrics that will get sweat away from the skin and keep skin fresh – HPE, with its techy fabrics, is a great option for warmer weather.

4. Ice, ice baby!
Freeze your water for tomorrow’s train journey or workout the night before. It’ll be wonderfully chilled, when you take it out in the morning. We love adding a few bits of chopped cucumber or mint to the mix to freshen things up a bit, too!

5. Make mornings your bestie
If you’re working out or doing something active, make sure you do it first thing in the morning when it’s are cooler. There’s nothing worse than trying to give your workout your all, lugging heavy boxes or whizzing around town on errands when the heat is on. Plus if you get all the boring stuff done early on you can take the afternoon to chill out in the sun. It’s a win-win!
