The Yoga Lounge and Urban Beach Retreat

Sun, sea, sand and yoga. What more could you want? The Yoga Lounge and Urban Beach Retreat in Bournemouth have joined forces to offer a relaxing UK retreat, less than two hours from London. This new collaboration is the perfect weekend staycation. It offers comfortable and quirky accommodation, unlimited yoga with Fierce Grace classes and delicious food. Our verdict? The Yoga Lounge & Urban Beach Retreat is a winner!

Bournemouth

The Yoga Lounge & Urban Beach Retreat is based in Boscombe near bustling Bournemouth. Set on the Dorset Coast, Bournemouth, is a bustling coastal city, which offers lots for visitors to do. Bournemouth’s highlight is the famous sandy beaches, but it also boasts regular street events and pop ups, a selection of restaurants and bars and lots of green space. It’s a charming city, but it can get busy with tourists in peak summer season, which is why the Urban Beach retreat is situated just along the coast, in quieter Boscombe. This sleepy seaside town has lots of character. Yoga studios and trendy vegan cafés pop up regularly and you’re only a short distance from busy Bournemouth, if you are looking nightlife.

Urban Beach Hotel

The Urban Beach Hotel is an award-winning boutique hotel, with a lovely coastal feel. The staff are friendly and accommodating and there is a really chilled vibe – just what you need from a retreat. Urban Beach’s ethos is ‘Nourish, Share and Embrace’ and it fits perfectly with the experience we had there. Everyone is willing to help, happy and no-one is in a rush. Urban Beach boasts an indoor restaurant and bar, as well as quirky outdoor seating on their decking, lit with fairy lights and heaters. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a well-deserved bottle of wine or cocktail. We had breakfast and dinner at Urban Beach, and both were outstanding.

The Yoga Lounge

The Yoga Lounge is a unique space in Bournemouth. It boasts two large yoga rooms and a retail space, making it ahead of its time on the Boscombe high street. There were lots of people waiting outside for the studio to open when we arrived – testament to its popularity with local yogis. And the retreat package comes with unlimited use of the facilities, with a varied timetable and mix of yoga styles. A popular recent edition to the timetable is the Fierce Grace Hot Yoga classes with their unique blend of strength and flexibility. The class was fantastic and we left feeling invigorated.

Sukha Lounge

We didn’t get to visit Sukha Lounge as it is closed on a Monday, but any other day you can enjoy a vegan lunch as part of the Yoga Retreat package. This includes a Vegan Bento box, cake and a drink. It’s the perfect way to refuel after your gruelling hot yoga session and is just down the road from The Yoga Lounge.

Verdict

UK retreats are really growing in popularity and I support them whole-heartedly – there are so many beautiful places in the UK to visit. And The Yoga Lounge & Urban Beach Retreat is no exception. In addition, I was immediately taken with Bournemouth and would recommend a trip there to anyone. We also had some brilliant ‘girl time’, met some lovely people and left feeling completely refreshed. Well worth a visit, we say!
