Sports Massage by Soothe

£95 for 90 minutes, soothe.com

The only thing better than going for a massage is having the massage come to you. Not even having to leave the house takes R&R to a whole new level, and when you’ve been working out as hard as I had (new gym programme, come at me), this sports massage – for 90 minutes, no less – was just what my body was crying out for.

I try to get some sort of massage every few months, but since this time of year is always busy, it was proving to be difficult to get one locked in. Having a massage therapist come to my home when I had a couple of hours free just seemed like the perfect solution to shave off some commute time. It was surprisingly easy to unwind in my east London flat – despite the outside noise – but make no mistake, this treatment was first and foremost about sorting out those tight, achey muscles, courtesy of the gym.

The massage therapist was incredibly attentive, not only to the areas I was clearly having problems with (the usual suspects like the back, neck and shoulders), but also to my hamstrings, hips and even my forearms. He clearly knew his stuff, and could answer any questions I had about preventative measures I could take to avoid injuries, at-home methods to ease pain and why I was experiencing certain niggles regularly.

I was left feeling relaxed, loose and super smug that I didn’t even have to brave the cold.
