It’s time to start welcoming those sugar cravings with the 3 most amazing healthy desserts of all time! Got your attention, then?

I have an undeniably sweet tooth. If I had things my way, dessert would be a compulsory part of every meal. However, we all know that that would be no good for our health. A sugary treat now and then can do no harm, but scoffing on a traditional chocolate fudge cake three times a day would definitely leave us in a bad position – as good as it would taste.

Yet, there is hope! With thanks to the internet, more and more people are able to share their healthier recipes for the sweet treats we all love. So, on days when we’re crying out for sugar, we can still indulge on something that’s incredibly delicious but with fewer negative side effects. To celebrate my love for the healthier dessert, I’ve chosen three of my all time favourite lighter treats to share with you here, so that you can have your cake and eat it.

Raw carrot cake
Raw food has become a huge food trend now, and aside from providing an array of amazing, feel-good, savoury foods, there are also endless amounts of delicious desserts out there to try. The traditional carrot cake has always been a go-to favourite treat for me, so when I discovered the beauty of a raw version, it felt like a miracle. Audrey from the Unconventional Baker makes my absolute favourite raw carrot cake recipe. Rich with the flavours of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg, this treat is full of spice and decadence. With no baking needed, this recipe is quick, easy and foolproof! No wonder I love it so much.

Raw chocolate almond cheesecake
Continuing with my love of raw desserts, I had to include the delicious, beautifully decorated chocolate almond cheesecake by Brandi from The Vegan 8. With my chocolate obsession and love of almonds, nothing tops this dessert. Vegan cheesecakes are the perfect, sinless version of the original kind – and in my opinion taste even better! This recipe uses an almond chocolate spread for a dark cocoa hit, which balances perfectly with its sweet almond swirl. The only equipment needed for this is a blender and a cake tin! After simply blitzing the ingredients then placing in the freezer to set, you can indulge in guilt-free dessert heaven.

Blood orange cake
As an avid baker, nothing beats the thought of a healthy cake recipe. I love baking anything orange flavoured, so when I discovered Sus from Rough Measure’s blood orange cake, I knew I’d found my perfect recipe. With the sweetness coming entirely from blood oranges and only an optional 1tbsp maple syrup, it has to be one of the healthiest desserts I’d ever seen. Made with ground almonds and olive oil, this cake is also dairy- and egg-free, making it a truly wondrous, inventive creation. Topped with fresh slices of orange for decoration, not only does this cake taste divine, but it also looks it!
