The raw cacao and cacao nibs in this recipe are essential to create an alcohol-infused taste. The recipe is actually alcohol-free, but the process of roasting raw cacao gives it a definite ‘boozy’ flavour. The combination of spices makes these delicious little treats taste just like Christmas.

Ingredients (makes 20)

200g chopped dried dates

1tsp cacao nibs

1tbsp cacao powder

½tsp cloves

Pinch of cinnamon

Pinch of ginger

Pinch of nutmeg

Pinch of cardamom

2tbsp melted coconut oil

1tsp maple syrup

50g mixed chopped nuts

Method

Add everything to a high-powered blender and blitz. Add a drop or two of water if you’re struggling to combine everything well.

Spoon out into a bowl and use your hands to roll chunks of mixture into little festive balls.

Place onto a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper and put in the fridge to set.

Place in the freezer for a couple of hours before serving to make sure they’re properly set.
