3 healthy intentions for the week

If your motivation is falling by the wayside, set 3 healthy intentions for the week to make your days happier and more fulfilling.

A great way to get the most of your yoga sesh is to set an intention for your practice, but we reckon this yogic tradition can play a part beyond the mat, too. ‘It’s so lovely to set Sankalpas [a form of affirmation/intention setting] in both yoga practice and daily life, as it helps us to connect to a positive quality in ourselves and this helps to facilitate our choices on and off the mat in a way that’s authentic and impactive,’ says Red Panda Yoga’s Katy Bateman (redpandayoga.com).

So, with this in mind, we reckon setting an intention for the week is one of the best ways to ensure you stay on track with your goals, stay focused on what matters and generally have a great week. So this week we thought we’d give you a helping hand with Team WHL’s top healthy intentions.

1. Take time to chill out

Promise yourself you’ll do one thing every single day to help you stay stress-free. It could be going to a yoga class, cooking a fun dinner or having a relaxing bath – or even something as small as going for a walk at lunchtime.

2. Discover something new

Exploring and discovering are good for the soul, so commit to learning something new this week. Whether it’s learning a new skill, finding out an interesting fact or discovering a new band, you’ll expand your horizons and probably have some interesting conversations or meet some great people along the way.

3. Laugh out loud

Giggling with your mates and LOLing at YouTube clips may seem dumb, but having a laugh is a great way to lift your mood. So plan some fun into your week – share Friday Funnies over email with your work mates (this is a WHL fave – youtube.com/watch?v=r88cYdjyMjE), go to a standup show after work or watch a hilarious TV show (we love Brooklyn Nine-Nine – #justsayin).
