Nail your summer workouts with MyProtein’s free summer guide!

What better time than the summer to boost your fitness? The sun is shining, the sky’s bluer than ever and the fresh air is calling your name. Exercising outside is so rewarding, but there are a few things that you need to take into account before you go rushing out the front door.

MyProtein have launched a free 28-day fitness programme, ‘Don’t Sweat It’, to help you find the motivation and give you the information you need to take your fitness up a notch. The programme contains a series of cardio and resistance workouts that you can do wherever you are, with each taking less than 30 minutes to complete. Every workout comes with a handy how-to video telling you exactly how to do each exercise, so you can rest assured that you’re receiving expert advice.

Here’s a little taster of what you can expect from the workouts in the 28-day ‘Don’t Sweat It’ programme:

We spoke to MyProtein’s Camille Thiebaut to find out the most important things you need to remember in order to make the most of your summer workouts. Here are her top five tips!

Get outside!

‘We spend most of our time at work or in the gym, so many of us are lacking in vitamin D,’ says Camille. ‘By working out outdoors, you will enjoy the sunshine, the fresh air and the landscape around you! Try to avoid the middle of the afternoon when the sunshine is at its highest because you don’t want to burn and always remember a sunscreen.’ Venture out to your local park for a workout or simply go for a run outside instead of on the treadmill indoors.

Drink, drink, drink!

‘You won’t believe how important it is for you to drink at least 1.5L of water per day to stay hydrated. It’s good for your skin, your recovery, your fat loss and overall health! So don’t forget your shaker or your water bottle when you go anywhere!’ says Camille. It’s surprisingly easy to forget to hydrate! Having a water bottle on your desk at all times is a great way to constantly remind yourself to keep drinking throughout the day.

Diversify your workout

‘If you’re tired of doing the same routine at the gym, by working out outside you will never be bored!’ says Camille. ‘The MyProtein summer workout is based around high-intensity training, which is an excellent way to action different muscle groups, giving you optimum results in a short time. As well as this you can try going running, hiking, swimming or cycling. Anything to get your heart rate up will benefit you and your goals!’

Don’t forget to eat!

‘I know it’s hot and your appetite may be pretty low… but if you forget to eat properly your muscles will become starved and you will struggle to build lean mass,’ says Camille. ‘If you want to have energy throughout the day and during the holidays, eat at least 3-5 times a day and include protein, fats and carbs in most of your meals.’ Becoming more aware of your eating habits will have a real impact effect on you overall wellbeing, most notably giving you a lot more energy.

Don’t do it alone

‘If you have a hard time motivating yourself, find a friend that will enjoy this summer workout with you!’ says Camille. ‘You can cheer each other up and then have a fresh shake together!’ Exercising with a friend is a fantastic way to stay motivated! Having someone who you trust alongside you to push you on and for you to also encourage will not only make your workout go by so much faster, but it’ll also make it really enjoyable.
