Take a look at the five ways the Bulletproof Diet can help beat the bloat. You’re welcome…

If you are like us, you likely complain about bloating all year round. Fear not, the Bulletproof diet, which is based on anti-inflammatory, de-bloating and real foods, could benefit you. You might have heard of the growing trend #bulletproofcoffee taking over social media, which, by adding grass-fed butter and oil to your morning brew, is supposed to supercharge your day. And now your diet can be supercharged, too.

‘The Bulletproof Diet is both low-histamine and anti-inflammatory, so eating foods from the green zone will help good bacteria proliferate while also fighting off the bad guys and keeping the bloat at bay,’ says founder David Asprey, who lost 100lb without counting calories or doing excessive exercise. His high-fat, brain-enhancing plan can help beat your bloat and more…

Sugar feeds bad bacteria…

… so cut it out! The BP diet insists on cutting out all sugar, as this ‘feeds bad bacteria and promotes yeast and candida overgrowth’. Yikes! Bad bacteria leads to an imbalance in your gut microbes and, you guessed it, bloating. Sweeten your food and drinks with stevia instead, or grab a handful of berries to curb sugar cravings.

Eating high-quality, diverse foods introduces good bacteria

David explains how eating a variety of whole, unprocessed foods produces good gut bacteria and ‘also leads to strong gut integrity and a properly functioning immune system’. Avoid inflammatory foods such as sugars, starches and oils which have taken over the Western diet. Focus on foods in the green zone such as high-quality fats, lean protein and veg. Choose grass-fed butters, creams and yoghurts over low-fat alternatives.

Avoid anti-nutrients

‘Anti-nutrients are food toxins that cause bloating and, in some cases, lead to severe gut and autoimmune reactions,’ says David. The most common you’ll find are mold toxins (mycotoxins), lectins, phytates, and oxalates. Look out for these in foods such as wheat, spelt, soy, nuts, seeds, beans, seeds and raw cruciferous vegetable, including kale and spinach. Go for pumpkin or sweet potato for a good carb source with lunch.

Supplement with charcoal

Science hats on: activated charcoal, the world’s oldest detoxing remedy, ‘is a highly absorbent material with millions of tiny pores that can capture, bind and remove unwanted materials. It has a porous surface with a negative electric charge, that attracts positively charged toxins and gas to be carried easily out of the body.’ Time tested for over 10,000 years, supplementing your diet with the Bulletproof upgraded coconut charcoal capsules will encourage digestion and eliminate bloating. Sorted.

Boost your coffee with Upgraded Collagen

Heal your stomach and digestive tract lining with the help of Upgraded Collagen. ‘Collagen is the connective tissue for most of our biological structures,’ he says, and is hard to get directly from our diet. Adding BP’s supplement to your morning coffee will provide you with this essential protein for fast tissue repair, reduced inflammation and revitalised skin.

What’s great about the diet is that it is not focused on reducing calories. Simply chose the right foods from the groups given, cut out all the nasties listed and watch your bloating troubles improve.
