Tofu

As the price of meat goes up and up sometimes it can be hard to justify serving it up for a weeknight meal. If you’re searching for a cheaper alternative, then look no further than tofu. Although an ingredient of love or hate, for those who aren’t a fan, its flavour can be easy to mask. Luckily, I’m a lover of the taste, so tofu is often a centerpiece in my meals. Try replacing it for meat in a curry dish, or using it in a Thai-based menu. One of the best meals I’ve ever had was a tofu Thai green curry, so I can assure you that sneaking it into your meals won’t leave you missing the meat. As a source of protein, iron and calcium, your body will be happy to see this ingredient on your plate.
